Land based diving in Komodo

Hi we are a family of four who are thinking of a land based holiday to dive in Komodo next August. I understand that most of the day diving is in the Northen part of the marine park. I have been told that at this time of year many of the liveaboards are unable to visit the south due to weather conditions. Please could anyone share any information.
