I was looking at the area on google maps and I noticed there are several bodies of water similar to Clear Springs. I'm sure they are all privately owned and inaccessible, but has anyone ever checked them out, or tried to at least?

I've wondered the same thing... looking forward to your replies!

i have. they sport two hundred feet of unobstructed visibility, several wrecks, freshwater coral, and 80 degree temps below the thermoclines in summer! but seriously folks: you got cssp and athens, everything else is too shallow, too turbid, or too contaminated near your metroplex.

What you are seeing on the aerials is a string of limestone quarries that were probably dug about when Clear Springs was dug. They are probably similar and on private property. Drop me a line when you figure out how to gain access. :)

I asked about this a long time ago and someone on there posted that most of them were shallow compared to CSSP and the owners didn't want anything to do with divers.

I'm too tired to do a search for that thread right now

oh, I wasn't planning on trying to dive them. Just curious if anyone else had.

We have on this board discussed those quarries many time, as a matter of fact several say they have dove a few with little enthusiasm. If you are looking for a 'lake' close to CSSP...... try in jest of course, just 15 miles up the road is Lake Tawakoni! :eyebrow:

I will confirm what fixxer just said. We have hashed this before. I too am too tired to search for the threads. The quarries are what they are. Stick with CSSP or head to: Murray, Broken Bow, Ouachita, Travis, or Possum Kingdom.

I make no claims about visibility or suitability about any of those lakes. I have my opinion; but I not wish to start a flaming thread. They are all good.

I've been wanting to start a flaming thread. :eyebrow:

Time!
I can always count on a good argument with you! Even if we have the same opinion. Ha!
