I've posted a similar question on the Northwest Diver's board with no result. Perhaps I'll have more luck here.

I am interested in diving some of the wrecks in Lake Washington. (Ferry boat Dawn, the Navy's sunken planes, the "lost forest", etc.) However, finding exact locations in proving to be an enlightening look at "wreck diving secrecy." If any readers on this board know of some locations - with GPS or another exacting method - of any of these sites and would like to be so kind as to share them with me, I would be exceptionally grateful. If you don't want to post publicly then PM is fine. If you want to phone me I'll give you that information too.

And for what it's worth, I hold many advanced certifications and have been diving for over ten years now (minus surface intervals) :D so I'm not a new diver looking for a site far over my level of ability.

Thanks in advance,

Hi there I am not too sure of some of the planes that were lost in lake washington, but i do know a general location is off the tip of sandpoint naval station. In the last few years they took 1 or 2 of them out of the water for salvage i have heard. Im sure the dive shop in kenmore would have a better idea where they are.

on some of the other wreks they are pretty deep i have heard train cars sit in 400+ feet of water.

Nine aircraft known to be in Lake Washington.

This one is the Navy PB4Y-2 Privateer. One of 736 built from May 1943 to the end of the war. The aircraft sits in 164 ft. of water in Lake Washington.

These guys, InnerSpace Exploration Team control all the info you are looking for, and are not your average divers. Pretty well funded little group. :)

Thanks for the link, Irish. Had never heard of this group till you pointed them out.

Best,

This is NIMITZ-68, new to this. And looking for the same info on the GPS. Shot an e-mail to Northwest Dive news. Still waiting for reply, butdid find some stuff on a google search for aircraft wrecks in Lake Wash.. Came up with some info and photos. Good hunting!!

Glaucus,
You may want to ask around on www.nwdiveclub.com
We were just having this discussion about the GPS locations for the wrecks in Lake Washington. There are a lot of local divers on the forum that may be able to help

I know Matt and Dan at NW Sports Divers dive regularly on various sites in the lake. I do not know if they share the information, but you could ask.

Last I heard Dan is making a video on the wrecks of Lake WA. He'd probably be a great source of info.

Go to the NOAA website and look in the AWOIS for area 13 (Automated Wreck and Obsrtuction Information System). You will find GPS cooridinates for many wrecks and obstructions. Then just apply those to the latitude and longitude on a map, and you'll have all the cooridinates for wrecks in Lake Washington.
