Merry Passage and I enjoyed the flattest sea we've seen in a long time. We glided along the surface to the Radio Tower off Pt. Fermin. I saw a couple of squid, including one mating with a corpse. The dead squid looked like it had been hit by a truck several times. Merry spotted a Mola Mola over the tower, but not close enough for a photo. We made a second dive at the White Point Outfall Pipes. The tide was rushing out, so we had a little current and poor visibility. The ride home was just as glassy as the morning run.

It's time to get out there. We made a night dive off P.V. last night. We saw a few squid, lots of shrimp, and topsmelt hounding us during our safety stop.

Historically, squid runs here generally start mid-December and go through mid-March.

Merry made a blackwater dive last night a few hundred yards off Vet's near the canyon's edge. She was surrounded by a cloud of thousands of squid, including many mating. They are on their way.
