Hi All

I am planning a family vacation to Ouachita state park this summer, Jul. 4th and I would like to be able to do some diving while I am there. We Plan on towing our travel trailer and staying at the state park. I can use some advise on where I can make a few shore dives and do some spear fishing. Is there any shore diving from the state park preferably near a camp site or within the park? Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

You can dive from the campsites but vis is usally not that great. Your best bet is to jump in your truck and drive to the dam. it is only about 10 miles from the state park or rent a pontoon boat.

That was going to be my suggestion as well.

My wife and I dove at the blakely dam site. There are concrete steps that take you down to the shore so you won't have to worry about tripping (a lot of steps) we went there 2 yrs ago in august and the vis was great. If you swim to the center of the dam and descend you will find a line that connects to several boats a golf cart and several other items. The vis was awesome when we went in august it must be even better now.

Hope that helps
