I finally bit the bullet and picked up a dry suit this year so I can actually dive year around. I would hate to have made my return to diving, after an extended layoff, only to stop for another 3-4 months.
My instructor and I did 3 total dives at Marietta's Landing yesterday (12/30), 2 for the DS cert and 1 fun dive at the end. Anyway, the vis was actually a nice improvement from the time I was up there last month. We started with vis around 8-10' (could see all the way across the first small platform).
I say started with because a rather unintelligent boater arrived in the cove and just hammered the throttle down between the no wake buoys! I really think this guy had no clue as when he reached the second set of no wake buoys(signalling the end of the no wake zone) he would throttle down as he passed in between them. Well, he did this about 4 times back and forth and then left. We were standing on the rocks yelling at him, but he did not see us, or simply choose to ignore us. We carried our dive flag back out and tied it to the platform for the 3rd dive and the visibility was noticeably down, but still around 4-6'.
I'll post the "general info" in the dive condition reports, but go ahead and state this here: Water temp was 50 F at the surface and 47-48 F at around 35-40'.
