Below is a statement sent and published at the request of Andrzej's Friends and Friends.

Today, i.e. 07/16/2022. around 1.00 p.m. on Lake Hańcza there was a diving accident in which our friend Andrzej Zalewski died.

While diving in a team of two, the divers lost contact with each other. The first diver, as agreed prior to the dive, then completed the dive on his own and returned to shore.

After the time for which the diving was planned, and Andrzej did not return to shore, the rescue services were notified. During the rescue operation, the fire brigade found a missing diver on the surface. He showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, the resuscitation action was not successful.

The diver had all the permissions to perform the planned dive. The gases on which he dived were adequate to the planned depth. The dive was carried out as planned. The separation of the team took place during the ascent at a depth of about 40m.

After finding him, Andrzej had enough gas in his cylinders for the entire dive. All valves for both diluent, oxygen, and drysuit (the dive was closed circuit) were open. The diver was not entangled. Bailaut cylinders were full and showed no signs of use. The dive computers were secured by the police.

The activities in this case are carried out by the police. At the moment, there is no clear cause of the accident.

We join in pain with Andrzej's Family and Friends. We will miss him very much. Please respect the memory of our Friend.
