Was thinking about going diving this weekend, and some of the family may want to come down to the beach while my brothers and I dive. Are the facilities at Picnic Beach open? Is the diving any good there? If not, can anyone recommend anywhere else in Laguna?

'Tis the worst part of the season for viz. Saturday was 8-10. Picnic Beach, or Hiesler Park is still being renovated.

Any spot in LB is a cool dive, generally. Depends on how viz is shaping up but don't count on much more than 10' although you might get lucky. I would try Crescent or Shaws. At least there your beach dwellers will enjoy the scenary.

Hiesler Park which is where people generally go for BBQs and Benches is still closed but you've got a few other options...

The main beach (just down the hill) has benches & BBQs and while it gets pretty crowded, it's nice for families. You'd be diving up the hill but it's a short walk down (without gear).

Treasure Island Beach & Park is located a bit further south and while I've never dove it myself, it is listed as a dive site. Again, it gets to be fairly popular as it's a large "sand" beach.

Just up the coast is Golf Cove beach which has picnic facilities (not sure abut BBQs) but requires stairs to reach the water.

If you go north of laguna there's Crystal Cove state park which has a good picinic and BBQ area plus diving access. Again, you'll have to trek down some fun stairs to reach the water.
