I'll be in La Jolla for the first time in Sept and need suggestions for sites and good charters. I'm leaning towards going to Coronados, but open to suggestions. Thanks.

Why the Coronados? In my opinion, there are much better dive sites closer to La Jolla: Scripps Canyon, LJ Cove (on a good day), anything in the Point Loma kelp, etc. A trip to Wreck Alley might be fun if you've never seen the Yukon or the Ruby E before.

For inexpensive and convenient diving, do a few shore dives at La Jolla Shores or La Jolla Cove. While you're at it, grab your snorkel and tour the larger caves in the Cove area.

Boat charters to check out: Waterhorse (Humboldt), Marissa, Lois Ann.

If you need a local dive guide, join the Divebums.com email list. As your trip date approaches, ask to be set up with a local diver. The San Diego area has an active and friendly dive community.
