hi all SoCal'ers,
i'm going to San Diego for a conference in early November and was planning to go for a few dives. from my little research I figured that La Jolla Cove and La Jolla Shores are the best places for someone who does not have much time. I have a few questions and would be very grateful for any feedback:
(1) i have my own equipment. Should I bring everything with me or rent in San Diego or La Jolla? I can imagine it's a pain to travel with it, especially when it's wet. I'm thinking of just bringing my regulator, mask, boots and fins and rent the rest.
(2) what's a good exposure suit for La Jolla in early November? i'm used to diving in at least 7 mm wetsuit around Boston.
(3) what are the dive shops that i could rent equipment from in the area that have good reputation and not so high prices? I'm going to stay in Marriott @ Marina or something like that and will probably rent a car for a day or two.
(4) are there any dive clubs (throu colleges maybe) that have organized trips that I could possibly join?
thank you

I always bring my own gear from Boston when I fly home to SD. A 7mm (with hooded vest) would be fine, but I dive dry. Can't help with rentals, nor clubs. In the past, I've just posted here seeking buddies, but now with my gf at UCLA, plus her friends, finding people to dive with on this coast has gotten much easier.
