I know you can check the websites for info, but looking for anyone who has been there recently- how is the red tide affecting the diving? We're thinking about coming out this weekend for some diving, but would rather save the gas money for another time if it's going to mess up the trip. And whats the temp like? The lifeguard line says water temp is 61, but I've seen varrying reports putting it anywhere from 47-60 degrees.. We're hoping to hit the shores, the cove and maybe a trip up to the laguna beach area.. any info would help! Thanks!

I don't know how thick it is in LJS but Laguna is still Chocolate Milk. You can get under it at Cresent Bay, but not with any guarantees. Bring nightime flashlights for the day dives if you come out. Temps are warming up a bit-55-61 this week. Don't know why. It's all still very divable with plenty to see-if not more than usual. The creatures think we can't see them, so they are out and about. Then, there are always our wonderful boats for day trips away from the chocolate milk and tea. :-)

The red tide is not so bad at La Jolla, a little murky above 20 feet, but below is rather nice. Temp at the surface might be near 55-60 but at depth it has ranged from 46-53 recently. Definite drysuit diving if you plan to do more than 1.

If you are going to be here on a weekend get here early as the summer parking issues have begun, we've had very warm days which brings everyone to the beach, the tourist season has also begun.

thanks! we'll give it a shot this weekend! 50 degress sounds nice after the 105's we've been having during the day..
