I will be in LA on 1/6 and 1/7 and am interested in booking some dive trips for when I'm there. Was hoping folks might be able to point me towards a boat/shop/dive op that might be able to hook me up for both dates.

Whether a liveaboard, or simply a bunk I could crash on, the ideal would be to do the same boat both days and "stay on board" on the evening of the 6th if I were to book both days. I'm coming to LA for a meeting that starts on the evening of Sunday the 7th, but don't have a place to stay on the evening of the 6th as of yet.

If it were possible to simply crash on the boat that'd save me time/trouble/money; I can get a hotel room easy enough, more about not having to schlep gear back and forth.

Also, I will have all my own gear with exception of tanks, so I'd need to be able to get tanks/fills on board or near by.

Thanks in advance for any info or insight you might be able to provide!

Ray, Welcome to the "left" coast. Check out this http://californiadiveboats.com/
Unfortunately, some of the favorites are booked or docked for that weekend, but check it out anyway. Also, look at the option to spend the night @ Catalina. (During the winter you should be able to get a one night room vs. min. 2 nites in the summer)
Check out our two info. "stickies" for more input. Good luck.

Try the Sundiver. It looks like they have trips both days, and I'm sure you could leave your gear on board, and maybe even sleep over.

I'll second the sundiver for that weekend. Look slike you'll have to book Sunday thru the LDS that has the charter. They have 85cf steel tanks on board & provide fills, and allow you to sleep on board the night before.

Be aware though that the boat returns to Long Beach between 5 and 6pm.

I think the Pacific Star out of Redondo Beach is running an open boat to Catalina on Jan 6. 10am-10pm, 4 dives including dinnner. Great boat...in fact, one of my favorites. It's a cool trip because you get a night dive in as well. www.pacificstardiving.com
