Hey, all -

After 28 boat and 3 shore dives (the latter at Vets), I'm looking to get more California shore diving under my belt. (I'm not at all opposed to boat diving -- I love it, but there's always the budget factor to consider.) My previous buddies are rarely available/interested these days, so I'm wondering whether anyone out there is willing to join me for a dive or two in the near future. To reiterate the post title, I'm in the Los Angeles area.

About me: I enjoy swimming, long walks on the beach (well, preferably short ones if wearing gear/tank), smoothies...

Seriously, though, I'm all about getting more experience in the water at this point. I'm not picky about dive activities (there's always something to be learned no matter what's going on, which marine life we see or don't see, etc.) and enjoy just heading down to experience what's there. The only activity I'm not interested in being around is spearfishing -- it's just not my thing.

Anyone interested? Feel free to PM me with any questions. Thanks!

I know what you mean about unreliable dive buddy's. What I found helpful is to go to some of the area dive shops and check out their dive clubs. there are usually weekly dive activities and other events you can participate in. Sometimes membership to a club includes discounts at the store too.

Keep checking this forum or the "club" section here: SoCal Dive Clubs and Groups - ScubaBoard
and join in the fun.... most of us here have no problem diving with someone that wants to get wet. The "BeachCrabs" love to do shore diving and are a great group but most or north LA to Santa Barbara.... Laguna Sea Dwellers, is a true club that gladly allow visiters to dive with them in the Laguna area. Then there is South Coast Divers Home Page though it can be interesting to who you are buddied up with.
Bottom line, here in So.Cal. just post or join up with someone or group and dive. This is how I have found many good dive buddies (very few not-so-good insta-buddies) and now I have 3+ regular dive buddies. Just ask questions of your unknown buddy to get a good feel before you go diving with them. Keep in touch and get wet!

The shop Sea D Sea in Redondo Beach has a kid named Jake working there. He always goes shore diving, usually either early in the morning or at night.

Pacific Wilderness has a large active dive club. Check the website for activities. www.pacificwilderness.com.

Also DiveVets is a very active group, usually dive Wed nights at Veteran's Park, Redondo Beach. Great way to meet new dive buddies. www.divevets.com

Lots to see in SoCal. Enjoy the diving and hope to meet you someday at one of our local sites.

I'll be happy to be an irregular dive buddy. I live in Orange County so LA is a commute for me but I do dive Vets and Palos verdes from time to time. But if there is someone to dive with, I would head out more often.

I'm diving the next few Tuesday's at 7PM at vet park. Feel free to join.
