Went out with Capt Beard for an exploratory trip to the Kraken. I invited seaagg05 and Deepgeek along as well. It's been a rough spring for the gulf (the Fling has only made one trip) but seas were flat Sunday and it was smooth cruising. We hit 36mph at one point but settled back at 24mph for economy and were onsite by 10am. The marker buoy was there and no other boats in sight.
Water temps were 70-71 and viz was about 40' down to 100'. Buoy is chained to crane at 80' (top of crane is 70'), main deck is just over 100', and the mud is supposedly 140' but we saw no need to verify this. Top of superstructure is also 70-80'. Lots of fish life, plenty of big snapper and amberjack, some lionfish, and assorted other fishes. Lots of fireworms and urchins too.
Here is a quick video I threw together. I didn't video on first dive and second dive was cut short with computer failure.
