We are in the process of deciding where to spend the Christmas break. We are wondering if the shore diving conditions are good (in general) along the Kona coast that time of the year?

If those, with year round experience there, have a better time of the year to suggest, I can plan a different time.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Conditions can be mixed, winter is our worst season for swell and surf. That said, it is usually not bad everywhere. The most protected diving is in the Puako area, this shore is not exposed to the north east, the usual direction of the big swells. You have to be flexible in your plans and choose sites protected from the prevailing swell conditions.
