Howdy fellow divers

Just wanted to share our happy feelings with the community. My wife and I had a fantastic dive trip over X-Mas/New Years Eve in Komodo (Flores). Bit in a hurry so before writing a full report I thought I would at least share some eye candy with you. The movie features some highlights, including the awesome manta dive!

We stayed at the Angel Island Resort and dove with Reefseekers, by the way.

Loved it :cool2: Will check the board later this week if you have any questions.

Cheers!

Is it any better price wise compared to LOB?

I was wondering the same thing. I looked at their website, and ASSUMING the diving is included in their price it works to about $1000+ USD for a week. They do "...two or three dives a day..." heading out in the morning and returning in the late afternoon.

If that information is correct they pretty much on par with midrange LOBs...maybe a little cheaper, but you would dive a little less too.

Here is their website. It looks like a REALLY nice place.

While I stayed a few years ago at Angeldive resort, Reefeeskers were unable to carry out 3 dives a day, although we had 2 hours boat trips to go on the dive site because they pretended the boat was't able to carry so many tanks.

I hope they improved their dive centre, which I wasn't very much impressed about : newbie diveguides, their senior diveguide was out (or something that looked more like a strike) but the owner/DC manager didn't want to replace her (Kathlen Mitchinson is an instructor but told me she "had better things to do than dive with customers". Funny remark for a dive centre manager, says it all for me/), their boat was uncomfortable and slow, the engine broke down one day leavng us waiting on Batu Bolong despite our warnings the day before.

The place is really nice, but what a pity about the diving management which I found one of the worst I came across in Indonesia.

I just noticed their price went up more than *2 in 3 years. That is completely insane and certainly not worth when it comes to the unexistant service and bad food you get.

Can only share our personal experience from our trip: We loved the land diving and the resort.
As you are already in front of Labuan Bajo, you are quicker at the dive spots.
We only did two dives per day - though you anytime could do a late afternoon/night dive at the house reef if you wanted.

What also made it special though was the cool people we meet on the island. I imagine if that wasn't the case, the island would have been too small for 13 nights.
And Angel Island is really quiet and nice to relax. We had the direct comparison to a hotel in labuan Bajo and we were glad to be off the noisy and dusty town.

Good, at the time I was there it wasn't possible, too late since we'd be back at sunset with their painfully slow boat and the DMs also had to accompany Reefseekers daytrip customers back to LBJ.

I spoke to the owner about that (ie. diving the housereef) and she told me (the same person) "we are not a dive resort, so we cater additional diving only if we have the guides for". In my case it was NO. :(
