Thanks for sharing - Palau is very high on my list of next places...I recently purchased a Zi8 - primarily as a "purse camera" for my wife, but I'm impressed with the color reproduction and clarity of the mid-range shots (agree with robint's assessments). Did you have the red filter in place for the manta shots? I shoot a miniDV camera underwater, but nearly every camera I've owned has eventually been paired with a housing...and the footage here makes the likelihood of a housing for the Zi8 even greater. Wonder if a modification is possible for the macro setting? (hopefully someone from Ikelite is listening) Also - the footage was natural, ambient light correct?

What are you editing the footage with? One hurdle for me since buying the Zi8 has been editing the footage on my current systems. I'm currently on Adobe Premiere Elements 3 (got "piracy religion" a while back and switched from a less legitimate Premiere Pro). I have to re-encode the footage down a few notches for the current Premiere to handle it. The Media Impression the camera ships with doesn't give much in the way of editing tools

Footage was shot in ambient light. No, the manta footage shot by a sony T100 did not have a red filter. I am using imovie to edit the video. I have just ordered a wide angle lens. Will use it on my next trip.
