My buddy and I are diving Bali Sept 5 - 17 so we're thinking of going to Ko Lanta. We have read that this might not be a great time of year to go to Ko Lanta. Does anyone know if late August is better than late September? Also, would there be a better place to go at this time of year?

September is a good time to dive in Bali. The dry-season starts mid-october for the west coat of Thailand. Koh Lanta is almost shut down in August or September. The surrounding national parks are closed too. Good for diving in August / September can be Phuket or Krabi. For Koh Tao, Koh Samui is dry season until October but don't offer great diving for experienced divers. Its more a perfect and cheap training location. Aloha

In general August will be better than September.
The Andaman Sea will be your best diving option in Thailand, year round.
