Everytime I start researching Malaysia/Sipadan, there's some new "incident". Can't we all just get along?????

It is ridiculous that this has happened again. Sabah takes in heaps of tourist money for Sipadan. They might want to put more into keeping their visitors safe.

That place is about as desirable a destination as a free cruise on a cargo ship off the coast of Somalia.

I said it before, will say it again (perhaps this time I won't have foreign based DM's telling me I don't know what I am talking about and that everything is hunky dorie) they authorities simply are not taking this problem (and I call it a problem because it is a 40 year-50 year problem that never went away) seriously enough.

What the hell is the point of putting a platoon of armed troops on a friggin atoll, with bunkers and a god damn ATV to run circles around the little atoll when they are bored but with no fast boat or attack boat with any capabilities? Are they seriously expecting the AS to land on the beach for a full frontal assault?

The patrols in place have so many holes in it, a blind sailor could sail a yatch right through the so called 'net' they have in place.

It is pointless having C-130's with no night survillence capabilities and air assets such as attack helicopters if they are not prepared to use them and to bring their best frigates with the best surface radar systems in place to protect the most popular tourist area in Borneo.

The Lahad Datu incident taught them nothing...as did the Semporna ambush..nor the Lahad Datu incident in the late 70's..not the sipadan kidnappings in the early 2000's...

They just NEVER learn from their mistakes. I have given up on them.

The recent 2 Kidnap incidents scared us away from Sipadan forever!

This also gives us a very bad impression on Philippines!

You forgot about the kidnappings in the North of Philip by the so called communists or socialist rebels. There's a lil war going on up there though on a smaller scale.
