Sorry, wasn't sure where to post this, please move it if you're a mod and have an idea about where it might be more appropriate.

What are car keys made out of and is saltwater bad for them? My car key has been spending a lot of time in my wetsuit lately and I only have one so I don't want it corroding or otherwise disintegrating.
 
If its electronic or has a transponder in then obviously its bad.

A normal key maybe ok provided its not banged or coating scraped off.

I just keep mine in my undersuit pocket though so no problem:)
