Rotarians from the Key Largo morning club came together today to hear about the Diveheart mission and vision of helping children adults and veterans with disabilities through Scuba Therapy. Diveheart president Jim Elliott was joined by South Florida Lead Wilhelmina Stanton and volunteer/donor Shellie McBride. Elliott introduced the Rotarians to the new Diveheart training program and some new initiatives to drive more adaptive divers, their buddies and instructors from around the world to Key Largo for trips and training. One of Diveheart's adaptive divers is blind Korean War veteran Gabriel Spataro from Chicago. Spataro is responsible for binging the Christ of the Abyss statue to Key Largo over 50 years ago. Gabe & Diveheart are hoping to celebrate Spataro's efforts with an event in Key Largo within the next year that will honor all those who have worked, lived, played, fought and died at sea. If you want to be be part of that celebration please contact Diveheart at info@diveheart.org
