Key Largo Dive Center had an incredibly nice day of diving on Molasses Reef today on board our brand new Newton Dive Boat. We departed the Key Largo Fisheries marina around 1:30 pm and were on Molasses Reef approximately 25 minutes later. The weather was clear with a light breeze and very small waves under 1 foot. The visibility was very nice, over 80'. There was no current.
We started out on Ball 4 which is named the Aquarium. The corals and fish were abundant as always, with the site living up to it's name. Everyone had stories about the wonderful variety of fish and other critters that they saw. The conditions were so nice our divemasters took the group over to the Spanish Anchor dive site and the divers took some nice photos of the coral encrusted old anchor.
We moved to ball 6 for our second dive, This site is on the south side of the Winch Hole and our divers made their way over to see and photograph the old winch located at that site. The site is very photogenic and they saw stingrays and turtles. The weather started to change as the divers returned to the boat due to a little storm system that was over the mainland. With perfect timing the weather kept moving south and we had a clear run back to dock. On our way home the divers enjoyed the refreshing hot water showers on the back deck as well as beverages and snacks.
It was an exciting dive with divers from all over the United States plus Brazil. As always our complimentary dive guides took exceptional care of our divers to insure that they saw the very best that these dive sites have to offer.
