Once again to the PTB if this should be posted else where feel free to move it.

I am wondering if there are any Lurkers out there that are from Kentucky. I am looking so that on the weekends maybe we could hook up for dives.

JBD and I along with bengalsmgtsucks are also looking at organizing a group to get togather and dive and maybe have some other get event (dinner, etc.) on occation.

If you are out there let us know.

Chad

I’m a few hours west of you in Evansville, Indiana.
I was wondering were you dive over there, I’ve heard of some quarries near Louisville?

Jef,

Good to hear from you. We dive alot in La Grange at Joe's Scuba Park which is about 20 mile outside of Louisville. I want to go to Gilboa in OH this year but haven't made yet. We also have Cerulean which is more central but I haven't made there either. I go to Western KY (actually just across the border in IL) to Mermit Springs some too. JBD dives alot of local lakes and I am going to do that this year as well.

Maybe the other KY divers could weigh in and fill in the blanks.

I occationally make it up to the casino boats that way is there anything there to dive.

I'm just north of Kentucky in Cincinnati and would be glad to join my southern brethren for a dive sometime this summer. I dive Gilboa fairly frequently and would be happy to meet any interested divers up there.

RickW,

We would love to have you. Right now it looks like we are going to try to hit the quarries alot this summer. I will try to post on the board when and where so that anyone who wants to come can meet up with us. Are you opposed to Louisville?

We've dived in Cerulean last year and liked it, it's only a couple of hours away. Ask about "Elvis". My wife and I have planned a trip to Mermit in May with some friends and have heard it's a great stop, want to see the sunken jet liner.
Where is Gioba, we're looking for some closer places to dive.

Thanks

I am not sure where Gilboa is but I don't think it is too far from Cincinnati.

Mermit is great. They have a good set up there. Good resturant in nearby is Fast Eddies that is if you like shrimp and burgers on the cheap. They were recently bought and changed their name but the food is suppose to be the same. I am sure a local can tell you the new name. However if the food isn't any good any more don't blame me.

Gilboa is in northwestern Ohio. I think the near by town is Finley or something like that.

Here are the directions to Gilboa

I-75 North
Get off at exit 159, US route 224 (It's the Cracker Barrel exit)
Head west on US 224
You have to drive several miles, I don't know what the name of the road is that you turn on but look for a large steer (as in cow) on the left side of the road not far from a grain elevator. Turn left by the steer, if you see the steer too late you can go to the next road and turn left.
Go to the stop sign and turn right, the quarry is just outside town on the left.

I don't pay attention to road names so someone else can help you there, I just look for the steer and turn left then hang a right on the road that goes through the center of town.

Hope this helps.
