Hello everyone, I am about to begin the basic diving course here in Owensboro, Kentucky. I was wandering if anyone knows of some good places to dive around here besides a few rock quarrys. I would really like to try some cave diving after I have completed the required courses and gained experience. Thanks!

Can't help you with Kentucky, but welcome to the board, and good luck & have fun with the OW!

I am originally from Louisiana and am new to Kentucky and new to diving (actually I am so new that I haven't been yet!) but I love water and being underwater. I do not have many friends here and none who are into diving. I am looking for a small group or person that I can start diving with , must be easy going and freindly, non competative. Hopefully my wife will overcome her closterphobia and join me later. I am 29 yr old boiler operator looking to make freinds in this seemingly pleasant bunch of water jockeys. Thanks and hello!

Hi Thirstydragon,
With a name like that my first thoughts were, has my little angel taken up diving.
Welcome to the boards from Scotland hope you find good local dive buddy's, its can be difficult.

great board here, you will like it here.:)

Glad to have you aboard. It is great to have another Kentuckian around.

As far as diving locally. You have the quarries (Joe's Falling Rock near Louisville, Cerulean, www.divecerulean.com near cadiz, Merrit Springs near Paducah KY but across the river in IL.) You also have the lakes. Dale Hollow is suppose to be good as is Laural, but I have never personly dove either one. I head something this week about a quarry in or near Owensboro but the gentleman didn't know the name of it.

Locally the visability is usually best in the quarries and at least they have some stuff sunk so you have something to look at.

I hope this helps and I hope you enjoy the board as much as I do.

Chad.

PS there are some other Blue bloods around here that might have more information than me,
