I'd like to get on some of the wrecks around Kellys Island. Does anyone have any recomendations of a good dive boat to contact?

If so, would you know the rates? Misc. information? Things like this?

I'd also like to dive around West Sister Island. Anyone have any experience with this spot?

Thanks!

It's been years since I dove around Kelly's Island, but I was on a wreck called The Prince. Since viz was almost zero that day, all I did was feel my way around the wreck. planks, ribs, etc. I don't have a clue what it looks like or how extensive it really is. As far a West Sister Island, it does have "reefs" around the island and lots of ordinance laying around. The island at one time was used as target practice. I don't know of any wrecks off that island. When I say "it's been years", I mean back in the late 70's and early 80's. Haven't been in that area since. Most of my Great Lakes diving is Huron or Michigan. Dive safe.

I found a neat web page, so here's the link to the wrecks around Kellys Isand. I would love to try and get on those over a weekend!

Kelleys Island Shipwrecks

This is the western basin of Lake Erie wrecks.

Lake Erie Western Basin Shipwrecks

Click on the CUSTODIAN, right next to West Sister Island. It also details the info of the island during World War II.

Thanks again for any input! Looking for a boat to get out to Kellys!

We did the Andventure and the Hanna last year on Labor Day weekend!! The visibity was very poor, both of those wrecks are right where the boats come and go into the little cove by the camp ground. But we are going to try it again on a weekday NOT a holiday weekend.

We also did the one by the Portage River, can't remember it's name, and we could see it on the depth sounder, but couldn't find it when we got down, visibilty was so poor unless we landed on it we wouldn't have found it.

New Wave Dive shop in Port Clinton has some charter boats listed on there website, I have never tried any of them, seems like most were fishing guys who when the fishing got slow would take divers.....

And thanks for that website, I hadn't seen that one before, we have a book that has them listed with history of the wrecks!
