Hello all. Just checking in. I hope the moderators will forgive this non-dive related topic.

I am currently diving the Plains of Kansas. The good news is a tank of air last all week. The bad news, I am still dry. I am at Ft. Riley for a little while doing training before heading over to the more intresting desert diving. At present I have limited internet access, actually none. On occasion I can get online by walking a mile and a half. Next week I move again and may have better access, but less time to use it in.

I have Memorial day weekend off. So I am in the Kansas City area. There is a local group I adore and I went to see them last night. I will watch the Indy 500 tomorrow on TV and study my Arabic the rest of the time.

I arrived at the hotel just in the nick of time to watch my oldest daughter’s college graduation from CSULB live on the internet. At least I got to see it and probably had a better view than my wife who was theere.

Since I left home my youngest daughter has gotten engaged and will marry June 6th. She was planning an elopment and was going to wait unti l return to have the formal wedding so I could walk her down the isle.

Let me close with these parting thoughts. Hug you kids when you can, and go diving when you can. I would also ask you pause for a small moment to rememer what memorial day is all about, those who served and paid the ultimate sacrafice for our feedoms. Take a brief moment this weekend and offer a prayer for their families. I like to remember on this day, a Major Charles R. Soltes. A truely great American, father and soldier. He left behind a wife and two small children and one on the way. A college fund has been extablished for his children. http://www.pasleyrealty.com/Trust Fund.htm

Until next time. Be safe out there and have a great weekend.

Hey Melvin you're awesome! Thanks for serving our country and for keeping in touch, and get your azz back here soon, OK? We need somebody to show us the proper underwater hand signals....;)

I second that thank you for serving, Pasley!

BTW, you still have time to hit Beaver Lake. :D

Hi Mel,

We are glad you checked in. It is great to hear from you.

I met 3 others, Craig, Billy, and Jose, last night for the Sand Eaters night dive at Escondido Creek. When we got there we looked at the beach, and conditions looked favorable. We suited up, walked down PCH to the gate. Guess what? While we were dressing out, someone came along and locked the gate:jpshakehe

Well, it was off to the backup, Corral Beach. It looked great, 2-3 foot waves and high tide. We suited up, once again! swam out, decended into 6" vis. Needless to say, it was a short, but wet, dive.;) We missed you doing the dive briefing.

Thank you for serving, for our freedom, Mel. You are always in our prayers.
