Hello! I have not been to Kagoshima yet, but will be visting for the first time next month - actually next week! We are diving on a little island an overnight boat ride away so I guess any dive shop specific info I have isn't too useful.
However you can expect water temperature of around 24 degrees (so 5mm wetsuit is ok for most) and a nice pleasant air temperature. Mushroom King dived there last year and a short report in this thread at on the website link..
