Hey all, Im off on my honeymoon soon to borneo. I have just purchased this action camera with marine case and wondered if any body has used or owns one and could give me some tips for optimal usage whilst I'm out there?

Well I've been on honeymoon and reviewed my diving videos. I didn't use a filter with this camera 1) because there isn't one 2) I thought the green and blue Marine built in white balance settings would be Ok 3) my ignorance on the subject.
Bit disappointed because it was great diving and my videos are either too Blue or green. I did manage to salvage some colour with Adobe premiere elements 11. The videos are clear and smooth apart from my own inexperience, where I'm a bit jerky in moving the cam about.
I have since bought filter paper and will insert inside my camera housing for my next dives to compare to my first attempt, so will review again in time.
Some good things about the camera, every body has been impressed with its size and appearance. I used it with out the Marine case for white water rafting, filming in the rain forest, also when on the surface after dives and the video is excellent.

I don't understand why the camera has an LCD display on the side. Does it swing out so you can see the LCD while the camera lens is pointed forward?

No you can't swing the screen out is static. It comes in handy to review your shots and also for this like, with the help of some one else making sure it's aiming in the right direction when using a head strap.

I also found when using the Marine case it was difficult to know whether you had pressed the recording button successfully. Without the case it has clear tones that indicate when recording starts and stops but underwater in the case you cant hear and the led is at the front of the camera. So you have to look at tbe led screen to see if its got tbe red recirding spot and its counting Away. That gets really annoying when you just wanna point and shoot and I missex out capturing some great moments when it wasnt recording and I though it was.

Hi Kieran,
I am looking at this camera and housing. For the money, it looks like a great deal and a dream to travel with. I also like the fact that you can zoom. Would you recommend it ... would you buy it again?

Thanks,
Mike

I love the camera, its small compact size, the fact its 5m waterproof without the case and its durable design.
Unfortunately you cant zoom in whilst the camera is in the marine case, nor can you access any of the menu. The marine case only accesses two buttons. On and off, and start and stop recording. Its also disappointing on the lack of available accessories, ive had to be really creative to over come this, for example the marine case has no capacity to attach a lanyard and there are no head straps and no filter attachments. I have found ways to over come the above 3 problems.

Wether I would buy it again depends on my next filming experience with it. Ive now got filter paper which im inserting inside the camera housing for my next dive. The quality of the video will be the deciding factor.

Id say give it a shot, there is a new model just being released, you can review it for me!
