I'll agree that G2 is a great camera. I've had very good luck with it above and below water, and it takes very nice shots. If you get a housing for it, however, I'd recommend an Ikelite over any other. It can be had for about $600, is custom made for the G2, and gives you access to almost all controls and buttons on the camera, except one which doesn't have much user underwater anyway (the delayed shutter/remote control button). The housing is not the cheapest out there, but in my opinion it's worth it. If you need a housing that can go below 100-120ft, factory housings that Canon, Olympus, and Sony make stop being viable options. Ikelite housings and strobes are rated to 200ft. Hope this helps.
