Navy guy, who just pulled into Curacao, only have 2 days off (Saturday and Sunday)looking for a dive op willing to deal with a single diver or someone local wanting to go on a shore dive. All of my gear is back in the States, so I'd be renting. Shoot me an email at quickmi@lhd3@navy.mil or navycryoman@hotmail.com or respond here. I know it's short notice and am not expecting much, but thought I would try.

Navy guy, like one on a floating medical carrier ship named after a mountain in NH? I'll email you. but... sometimes our mail from the island goes to the junk or spam boxes. If you don't get mine and possibly some from others in Curacao, please check yours.
Sunshine
Also from NH

Navy guy,
I can't get the email to send out. ????
Anyway, There are a few ScubaBoarders who live in Willemstad who dive every weekend. You can also call Mark and Suzy at the Dive Bus 693-8305. They give guided shore dives all around the island as well as in front of their dive shop located next door to Breezes near the Sea Aquarium. If you don't have any luck reaching a dive buddy, give us a call; 864-0005

Enjoy your stay.

Sunshine, thank you for your reply. I believe I'm staying right next door to Breezes at Lion's dive. I have the hotel there for tonight and tomorrow. BTW, that is the ship I'm on. It's not really a medical ship, we're just doing humanitarian efforts all over the Carribbean right now. I wrote those numbers down and appreciate the welcome.

I forwarded your request to Trunkdivers (| Onderwater in de West). The owner is a marine. I don't have rental gear otherwise I would have gone diving with you. I hope he responds today. I will be seeing him later today and give him your message.

Regards

John

We (Trunkdivers) did indeed a number of North side shore dives over the last few weeks. The sea was mostly calm although even then it is not always easy to enter or leave the water. Although the web site is in Dutch and that is probably a language that you don't master (yet), I have several pictures of these dives that speak for itself. Check the following links:

Watamula shore dive; completely different from a Watamula boat dive:
Duikfoto's - 20080927

Tunnel of Doom (Eastern part of the island past Playa Canoa):
Duikfoto's - 20080920

Boca Patrick; my top choice up till now on the North side:
Duikfoto's - 20081005

And last week, Houtjesbaai (translated this would be the Bay of Wood):
Duikfoto's - 20081012

That it is not always without risks shows this picture of me:

I had set up a check out guided shore dive with Oceans Encounters for yesterday afternoon, but had to pass on it due to being extremely congested. I was hoping my congestion would clear up in time. I'm really kicking myself in the butt for not being able to do a dive while here in Curacao. I do have tomorrow, but have to be back to the ship by 5 pm. Maybe I could make it out tomorrow. Thanks for all your replies.
