Hi all,

My family and I just got back from a trip to Isla Guadalupe. We saw up to 4 17' great whites at a time (there were 6 or 8 hanging just beyond visual range). What a fantastic trip! The most interesting thing I learned is that great whites are intelligent. Not only could you see it in their eyes as the swam by, checking us out, but you could watch their problem solving as they were trying to get the tuna from the crew and their bait lines.

We got pictures on Wade and Karen's Trip To Isla Guadalupe but I've attached one just to whet the appetite. :D

Wade,

Awesome picture...you've captured the eyeball of a great white.
That's usually not in photos.
Isn't it so cool when you see a great white close enough you can see into their eyes and realize it's not "the coal black eye" you've always heard about?

I'm going look at your other shots now...
Bill

Great shots buddy, you ought to be proud.
Is that San Diego Shark Diving you went with ?

I am very proud...of my wife and daughter. They got the good shots in that group.

Yeah, we picked-up a special at the Long Beach Scuba Show. They've got a pretty good crew (especially Jessie -- she really knows her stuff and her enthusiasm is contagious).

Sounds like you've been out there as well?

Amazing, these pictures are beautiful!!

Wow Wade!! Great shots!!! Love the one with the other cage in the shot to give some scale. Looks like an awesome trip.:)

...yes, I been lucky enough to have been to Gaudalupe several times.
I love the great whites, they are amazing animals.

Your wife and daughter did a great job with the pictures.

Bill

Nice shots. Truly "Shark and Awe" (note: for Americans, pronounce "shark" the way the Aussies and Kiwis do)! I'll have to go back now that I have the HD camera to shoot with... although I was pretty pleased with the mini-DV footage I shot back in Dec 2005.

Wade - Thanks for sharing the pics your family took. Sounds like you had a great trip! I just got back from there as well (Oct. 1-5) and had an amazing time. I booked my trip through SharkDiver.com. The crew was wonderful, the food was fantastic and the diving was unbelievable!! We saw sharks on every rotation (multiple sharks at a time like you described), saw breaches every day and even witnessed a seal predation! It was truly an awesome experience. They are gorgeous creatures, aren't they? Here are a few of the pictures I took.

That's really cool. You have yourself some beautiful pictures, there!

Thanks, everyone, for all the kind words!
