hello everyone. just thought i would throw out another plug for our good friends at Dive Adventures on the island of st maarten. they are located right at the marina in simpson bay and have a new second location at the divi resort in little bay. if you ever need to choose a dive op here, contact vinny at dive adventures to make all the arrangements. tell him that rick and melissa sent ya.
st maarten is not exactly known as a diving mecca but we really enjoyed our diving there. got to see a nice pair of eagle rays, some turtles, some huge southern rays along with a bunch of smaller ones, lobster, (even one spanish lobster), morays swimming out and about, crabs, and a bunch of reef sharks along with a couple of nurse sharks. we were even lucky enough to come across a feeding frenzy where about 5 or 6 reef sharks were chowing down on a school of needle fish. that was def a first for us. my wife did her first night dive this trip as well. only disappointment about that was we should have done it again. it was amazing. i wish i could do more of those. 2 weeks is just not long enough here. what a great place to come. can't wait to go back already.
we have been a few times so if anyone ever has any questions about anything at all regarding st maarten please don't hesitate to send me a message. i will try to help out as best i can.

Thanks for the info. Started my diving in SXM, so it will always be near and dear to me! Is Dive Adventures at Pelican/Simpson Bay Resort? Formerly AquaMania? I've a TS in the Marina Bldg and it's very convenient to walk down to ground and get the boat, though I haven't been in a few years.

yes. dive adventures is still in that same location. plus they have a spot at divi little bay now. aquamania is the water sports company you book it through. they also run all those sailing tours etc

Thank you Rick! Divi had an op, I did some shore diving from there around 2002. Nothing deep or fancy, just out along the penninsula, sunken plane parts and some other 'stuff' placed.

ya we found out right at the end of our trip that they offered a shore dive there. so we did not try it out.
i am not sure who the previous operator there was, but dive adventures has got it now.

on a related note.....apparently Scuba Fun (another dive op) was shut down and are not operating right now. not sure if it is permanent or not
