Just did all of my Rescue Diver Cert's in one day and all I gotta say is that is a LOT of work. I am in pretty good shape and I still feel pretty beat right now. Now off to get my DM training.

Congratulations!! Yeah, I was beat UP at the end of my class, but it was fun and educational.

Give us a report on your class!

Way to go! I thought rescue was my toughest cert to date.

Congrats!

if I'm already an EMT, would I be required to do First Aid and CPR? or a shorter course?

If you have First aid and CPR training you've met that requirement (I'm assuming we are talking about PADI's rescue course here) and therefore don't need to take the Emergency First Response course. But your rescue course wouldn't change. :)

Rescue was the best class I have taken. The scenarios in the pool were a lot of fun. However, the actual dives in the ocean were not that much fun, dragging people out of the water over and over again is hard work. By the time it was over, I was exhausted, but it felt really good to gain some confidence in your ability to help others should the situation ever arise.

Wow... one day? I've not done it yet, but I was on a diveboat one day when someone was doing it. Man, that's intensive stuff already, let alone one day! Congratulations! I've been told that for many people, the rescue divers course is quite a moving and satisfying course. Because, like it's been said, you're learning how you can be of service to other divers should the need ever arise.
