Well, we did it. The sailing class was great. Learned how to tack, gybe, do man overboard drills, how to sail in the rain and even how to set in the boat and hope for wind.

First, the school was great. It's Chesapeake Sailing School in Annapolis. Kathy, who runs the school was wonderful and all of the instructors were top notch. However, I was there to not only learn, but I think I taught them a thing or two. As a true diver, not only did I go overboard, but I did it twice.... It's a long, long story, but just let me say that the racing yacht that picked me up one of the times was very very nice.

Oh yeah, in case you are wondering, the cost to get rescued and brought back to the dock is two cases of beer.

Next time I sail I think I'll wear my drysuit.

Skipper.....

sorry couldn't resist!

Congrats Ty! It's good to hear that there's other divers who have an interest in finding the groove on a Close Reach. I put my sailing lessons right up there in value with my SCUBA training, and I've been one happy sailor ever since I earned my Bareboat certification. From what I hear, your area is some of the best sailing around, here's to hoping you get to enjoy it as much as possible!
