I just purchased the underwater housing for my canon A610 and was hoping to use it this weekend in a pool dive.
I was just wondering if you have any suggestions for making sure it doesn't leek and the best settings to have the camera on.
thanks
Robin

robin, prepare your housing as you would if you were going on a dive, in other words , (DO NOT put the camera in it), grease your o-ring and set up housing in a cool dry room with out the camera in it, seal it up and then take to pool or any were else that you can take it to at least 15 ft and keep it ther for five to ten minutes, this puts it under some pressure and tests it, then if all is good reset it up WITH the camera and go have lots of fun with it, always watch it on every dive though, you can commenly discover a leak before its to late if you always keep an eye on it, also after this first test, from there on each time you set it up (camera an all) soak it in the bathtub for a few minutes prior to each dive and watch for bubbles and leaks. i am taking for granted that you have a clear housing like canon or ike-lite?????? let me know and if i can be of any futher assistants , hope this all was helpful jim

another tip I got that worked for me? On your test dunks, wad up a "blue" paper shop towel and put it in the housing. Exercise somewhat abusively "all" the buttons, (especially" the typically spring loaded "review/camera" switch while doing your test dive. (I had a housing for my "first" A70 that tested fine in a pool and on a test dive then "ruined" my camera on the first dive (come to find out it leaked only when I put "pressure" against the side of the review switch. (on a subsequent) test dive with the paper installed I could see the paper turn color when I pushed against the switch. (mind you I was diving in heavy gloves in 45 degree water.

Good luck~

Tim (now have over 2000 photos on this housing and camera and getting ready to upgrade to either a S80 or a A620?

Check the case first with just a weight in and no camera. Make sure the o-ring is *lightly* greased. No hair, grit etc across it. Make sure its not crushed

Silica gel sachet inside will help stop condensation forming on the lense.
