No, I booked the airline myself and am researching several sites for the hotel and diving. I have used a large dive/travel site in the past and I usually find that I can do better myself. Of course there are the occasional screw ups like booking the air and before receiving a reply about my first choice of hotel/diving being available.

Thanks Sandra, I am looking at Papa Hogs for the diving and have checked out there website about the rooms. everything is in consideration until tomorrow.

We stayed and dived with Papa Hogs before we discovered Caribe Blu. We thought their dive operation was fine - in fact - we convinced them to take us to Eagle Ray Alley to dive. When the conditions allowed, and permissions granted, we went there. What a dive!!!!!! The restaurant at Papa Hogs was very good. The rooms were a good size, clean and Margaret Hog was very sweet and accommodating. Mike Hog, on the other hand, was a real grump. But he did get us to Eagle Ray Alley. Kudos to him for working out the details for us. He just needs to smile more often.

Have a blast.

Try www.travelnotes.cc she has discounts to the Cozumel hotels. Web site is not real clear but click on Cozumel Island. Nothing against Papa Hogs but wear a hat. Their boats have no canopy and that may get hot!
Suites Bahia is real nice for the price, Barracuda is rebuilding the terrace and putting in a pool. They do work at night so could be noisy.
www.bottomtimedivers.net
www.bluextseadivers.com
www.liqidbluedivers.com
all have small fast boats with canopy and real nice people. Bottom time is least cost of three.

I just put down a deposit to stay at Villablanca and dive with Papa Hogs. They seemed to have the best available deal for a solo diver. loudives, I will bring a hat. I am pretty low maintenance as far as frills are concerned, as long as the place is clean, I have room for my gear, I get into the water, and am treated fairly I will have a great time.
I will see how Villablanca/Papa Hogs compares to Caribe Blu/Blue Angel where I have stayed twice before.

Thanks to everyone for their advice and suggestions.

You should do fine with this setup. We used Villablanca/Papa Hoggs last year, and found nothing to complain about. But be sure you either pay for everything up front before leaving for Cozumel, or else bring traveler's checks or cash for your big bills. They will take a credit card, but then you get hit with that Mexican tax, which was about 15%:lightingz . Wish I had known about that the first time... Woody

Thanks Woodman, I wil be paying before the trip.
I am leaving in 15 minutes for a couple of days with my wife to visit my sister by NYC and see Spamalot so I had to book my trip this morning. I booked through travelnotes.cc and will be paying through them.
Thanks again everyone.

Nevis Diver,
I went to the USAIR website and looked up their baggage policy and found this:
International Baggage Allowance
A fee will be imposed if checked baggage exceeds a maximum of 50 pounds or 62 inches in overall length, width and height per piece or if the total number of pieces (checked and carry-on) exceeds three.

I incorrectly interpreted that 50 lbs as the total weight for both checked bags. After reading your post I called USAIR and they told me that it was 50 lbs per checked bag (two allowed) as you indicated. Your carry on bag is allowed 40 lbs.
Thanks for catching my mistake.
