After a lot of consideration, my wife and I are booking a trip to Habitat Oct 25 to Nov 1. We signed up for a 3 meal plan since it was not much more than just breakfast. This way we don't have to worry about shuttles, taxis, or rental car to get meals, but have the option to go out if we need or stay if we want. We usually spend an afternoon or 2 in town and maybe will rent a car for a couple days to see things towards the end of the week. We are looking forward to the trip and any recommendations on what to go see or where to eat if we do go out would be appreciated greatly. I really enjoyed diving Bonaire, she was pregnant, so I'm looking forward to see what this island has to offer.

If you booked the cabins on the hill, you will get a workout just getting to the lobby. we changed our room after making the climb a few times. other than that the resort and the diving is great. can't say the food is great but that is expected after eating good tex-mex here in Texas. the swinging bridge in town is cool.

Hello Nismo.
We were at Habitat Curacao in August last year - wow it has been a year already - and we thoroughly enjoy it. Can't wait till the timing is right so we can get back.

While we were there they literally built the chicki hut where you board/disembark the boats and they were beginning to expand the the dock-deck area along the waters edge just below the infinity pool. They were also starting the renovating of rooms during our time there. I'll be curious to hear or see pictures of the place when you return. Oh yeah, and if you like parrots they have a macaw in a big cage by the pool. Bring some kind of a parrot toy for it and it will love you and talk back to you.

Anyways, having been to Bonaire 2x, once in the water diving is very similar. We rented a truck from the airport for our week there as we planned a few boat dives with the dive op but wanted to go off to do shore dives on our own. We didn't do any meal plan since the room had a mini kitchen (room 614 overlooking the dive shop) we stocked up our room & fridge from the local supermarket with breakfast/lunch/snack fixings to have at our leisure. Most mornings we sat on our balcony eating breakfast while setting up our cameras for the morning dives then returned for lunch before our afternoons adventure. We did have dinner there everynight as we were pooped and by that time it was a light meal for us at the days end.

Actually going into town is no big deal. Although if you do, be sure to find your way to the Hotel Kura Hulanda - it is beautiful to just walk around their sculpture gardens and see the buildings architecture and whatnot. It is right behing the Restaurant & Café Gouverneur de Rouville which overlooks the bay of downtown onto the candy-colored downtown of Willemstad.

Aside from driving into Willemstad our last day there we never did anything else but dive.
Have fun and report back.
