I want to thank everyone here who offered great info on going to the Caymans. Were were looking at LCBR but had to decline when the price jumped from the advertised price of $2250/person to $2516.

At lunchtime today I booked air and a week at Cobalt Coast. Air was $590 and the room was as it was advertised $2155 per person.

Looking forward to this. Anyone else going to be there the same time?

Betty

I wish! ;) have a great time, and please try to let us know how it went!

Will do but you know I will be comparing everything to Scuba Club Cozumel and diving in Cozumel. ;)

I've stayed at Cobalt Coast and dived with Divetech before, and very much enjoyed it. The accomodation is excellent, the dive op is very good and the shore diving at Cobalt and Lighthouse Pt is a real bonus. They tend to boat dive the north wall if the weather permits and in my opinion, that's the best diving on GC. You need to think about vehicle rental as Cobalt coast is at the north end of the island and is a fair way from restaurants ( except their own ), shopping and other activities.

Thanks Doctorfish but we've taken the meal package and will eat all meals there. We might take a bus to town but I probably doubt it. We plan to dive, dive, dive.

If it's your first time at Cobalt Coast you're gonna love the diving there. That is [-]one of][/-] my favorite places to shore dive, hands down. Don't miss the big wall on a shore dive. It's beautiful and isn't that hard of a swim. We usually swim out to the buoy for the short wall, descent then follow the line out the the big wall. It's great. If the current is working with you, when you do the short wall, head out to the bouy, descend, turn left (west). It beautiful and we saw huge schools of different types of fish. :D

CC is a great place. We stayed elsewhere and after a few days of boat diving we decided to hit the west coast shore. First place we found was CC and it was great. I think we did 4 dives there and 4 more at the sister resort.

You may want to get a car or see if you can get to Eden Rock/Devils Grotto. This is great diving and right off the shore in downtown Georgetown. I dont know if CC takes their boat down that way. I thought these sites (right next to each other) were some of best best diving and the most interesting places to take photos.

I will be in GC in Sept and am really, really looking forward to it.

Hi Betty in Toronto,

Not sure who you talked to at LCBR but I have been booking that resort for some time and never sold it that expensive. I have a group going in October and ocean front is $1595 double occupancy for 7 days, 3 meals, 12 dives. I have a real cheap adder for an afternoon dive package. I book Cobalt Coast too but you cannot equal the food at LCBR!

If you are interested in LCBR, check out our website...

Right now we still have 2 ocean rooms left for the dates of May 11-18 dates.
The 7 night rate dbl occ ocean front price on the same package as I listed before is $2516.00 per person.
We can not promise if the room will be on the first or second floor but we can add your request to your reservation and if the front desk is able they will. Just sometimes we just are not able to honor all requests.

We are going to Grand Cayman March 30-April 6 - staying at Cobalt Coast-so we we'll be there before you. I'll write up a trip report and share it when we get back!

It will be our first trip to GC, other than a stop on a cruise 8 years ago (which I'll never do again-that was pre scuba certification!)
