Catalina Local Divers,
My classroom of 7th and 8th graders will be staying at Campus by the Sea at Gallagher's Beach for a week of Outdoor School with Long Beach Marine Institute. (This is our first year with LBMI. We use to use Rapture Marine Expeditions before they went out of business, they had a great program and let us dive from their ship.) Each year I do this trip I give my students the opportunity to learn to SCUBA dive before we are on the island. Because we are not allowed to dive from Gallagher's Beach, we have arranged for Scubaluv to pick us all up (divers and non-divers) to spend the day diving, snorkeling and kayaking. This would be on Wednesday, May 27 for the whole day.
I would really love for my students, and the parents who will be with us, to learn to love the marine environment and get a full experience exploring the natural wonders below the surface. If any of you are interested in sharing your love, knowledge and passion for the Catalina marine life with some new Junior Open Water Divers and thier parents, I invite you to spend the day with some great kids. We will not be filling the boat, (We will have 10-15 divers and 8-12 non-divers.) and I am sure Scubaluv would be wiling to make room for you.
I look forward to a great time in the water!
P.S. I have been lurking around here for about nine months. I have learned a great deal reading the Instructor to Instruction section. Who knows, maybe I will become a regular Scubaboard guy!
