Hello All

New at this, so I hope I get it right...and I could use some help.

I have recently purchased a new Macbook PRO (OS X, version 10.5.1) and have Leopard installed on it. As well, I have recently purchased a Smartcom from Uwatec, with the IRDA device and have downloaded the Mac compatible software program called Jtrak...
and it appears I am having no luck with the combination. I was able to connect the very first time to set up my smartcom via the computer, but since then, have not been able to connect. Jtrak gets locked up, I cannot even force quit, I have to restart. I have since appzapped Jtrak and reinstalled, and snooped around on-line all over the place, and am thinking it could be a Leopard problem, but from what I see on line, the whole, Smartcom/Jtrak/Mac combo thing is a no-go...even though the brochures say they will work just fine. The other option is to run Virtual PC on my Mac, which I hear is slow, having said that, Microsoft and Virtual PC will not work on Leopard....uggh.
Any suggestions, great ideas, information, hints...all will be most welcome.

Thank you muchly.
Anastasia

parallels will work just fine with leopard. That is one choice. or VMware. I can't comment on jtrak since I have never used it. But if you HAVE to run windows I was definitely suggest getting parallels desktop and install XP on it. That should take care of the problem. Good luck and please let us know how things work out.

There has been a few reported problems with Leopard and the IR device along with Jtrak. Scubapro is currently looking into the problem.

By chance would you mind sending me a screenshot of your system profiler showing what driver the Leopard operating system uses with the IR721 device?

thank you

Regarding the Virtual Machine;

I am running VMWare's Fusion and I am very happy with it. I like it more than Parallels.
Regarding the Software;

The Windows version (Smart Track) has a better feel (for me) than JTrack.

My 2 Cents.

Regards
Richard
