Have just received word that Joyce passed away early this morning after a four or five-year battle with cancer.

Joyce was one of the most beautiful people I have ever met in the dive industry. Her dedication to wreck research, preservation and exploration was deep and unwavering, and her love and enjoyment of diving was an inspiration I shall always be grateful for. The diving community at large, but most especially here in the Great Lakes basin, has lost a champion.

Details will be posted as they are released.

I am so sorry to hear of such a great lose for all of us in the diving community . Prayers to you and all families involved.

When meeting Joyce for the first time she would treat you like a long time friend. This lady had class! As an inductee into the "Woman's Diving Hall of Fame" she was truely recognized world wide for her dedication and accomplishments, yet she put on none of the airs or attitudes of one so accomplished. She would listen to the freshly certified OW student or narled old salvor with the same respect and attention.

Joyce was truely one of a kind!

She was indeed a wonderful lady and will be sorely missed by the diving community.
