For new divers: you cannot trust boat captains to avoid you, so don’t turn your back on them, when on surface.
below is an example of an idiot boater with no anchor, no radio, no power and no brain , adrift in Nantucket, and this guy has loads of money, so no excuse either.
If his boat had failed in area with divers, he couldn’t stop drifting over dive flags even if he was looking out for them.
I’m thinking maybe this is the boat captain mythical mermaids could take out, and leave the oceans a safer place.
Unless they are busy destroying the offshore wind turbines.

Your post is misleading. The boat HAD a radio.

And what's all this about *gasp* a powerless boat drifting over dive flags, written as if it poses a serious threat to life and limb and advocating murder, even if mythical creatures are called upon to carry out the task.

He bought a house for 42 million and his boat didn't have an anchor? I doubt that, probably never thought to throw it.
More likely the boat had a radio and a windlass but both were inoperable due to dead batteries. He likely did not realize or know how to manually release the anchor rode from the windlass.
