Good Afternoon Madam/Sir

I am Camille Del Rosario of Reef Check Philippines. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to marine conservation, especially coral reefs. Reef Check is active in more than 80 countries and focuses on involving people in coral reef monitoring and protection as well as finding financial incentives for conservation. Reef Check is a monitoring system designed by scientists which allows volunteers (from all walks of life, whether diver or non-diver) to help monitor the health of reefs.

We offer an Eco-Diver course and for Non-Divers we also offer an EcoSnorkler course. We hope you could Join us!

here are some of the information for the Eco-diver Course:

We need to complete a group of 6 before scheduling training. When we have a training session coming up, we will contact you.

We have 2 formats for training: The first type of format involves training 4 days straight, on-site (Batangas), with lectures and 4-5 dives. The second format is made for people based in Metro Manila and who are free from 5 pm onwards. Training (via the second format) is done over a 2-week period. This latter format is for those who can attend 2 classroom sessions (after work) during the 1st week, and then 1 pool session on the weekend. Then another 2 classroom sessions (after work) on the 2nd week, followed by fieldwork of 2 days in Batangas.

Below is info to give you a general idea of the Eco-Diver course.

A. PREREQUISITES

1. Scuba C-Card (fax or scan to be sent 1 week before start of training; original to be presented on the 1st training day)
2. Minimum of 30 logged dives (show dive log on the 1st training day)

B. TRAINING

The following activities will be done during the training:
> Lectures about Fish, Invertebrate and Substrate identification
> Written tests
> 4-5 Dives (including actual survey)

> Training Venue: The resort we frequently use as the venue for eco-diver classes has been the Bontoc Bed & Breakfast in Brgy. Bagalangit, Mabini, Batangas. The resort's location allows for shore entry for the initial dives. Of course, the trainees may opt to use other resorts as the site for training, but this is to be discussed when there is a group which is ready to train, and to be coordinated with the instructor who will be handling the class (to take into consideration the needs of the training).
