I've had my eye on jetfins for a while- first for myself and then since I ended up with Deep 6 Eddy fins, for my cousin who is about to take his open water. He has twin girls who are about to start college and claims that his expenses are high at the moment. I think that's a myth but whatever. I have looked at SO many used jetfins and finally found a pair online from a local seller that looked really great. Made in USA- what year did that stop???
Brought them home and started cleaning. These have no cracks or tears or no tiny weather checking. Even the stainless buckles are clean and shiny, not corroded like many that I see.
How do you take care of these things? Obviously there is a secret or there wouldn't be so few pairs out there that look brand new. This guy said he put 350 dives on time and always rinsed immediately in fresh water and covered them so the sun wouldn't eat them. I guess that is the advice I will give to my cousin when I hand them off next week.
In the meantime, I've been rubbing in layers of 303 Aerospace Protectant. Is this OK, or is there a better option out there? I thought of 303 because it has done a really good job with an exposed rubber air hose of mine that is always out in the sun ready to fill a car or lawn tractor tire.
Any and all tips are welcome!!
