Just watched "Hitlers Lost Sub". I noticed that Ritchie Kohler entered the water doing a sort of front flip from a kneeling position. I think this is called a "Jersey Roll".

When is this type of entry done? Is this just for tech divers with multiple tanks? I am guessing that there is just too much weight to safely do a GS. Is there ever a reason to do this in rec diving?

Yeah to look cool or like an idiot depending on the conditions and who is on the boat!:D But seriously in rough seas or with enormous amounts of gear it can sometimes be impracticle to do a conventional entry. I saw one of their shows on, I believe, Scapa Flow where he basically flopped sideways off of the boat to get over the gunwale because a seated or conventional bacwards roll was not practical with those big doubles and 2 or 3 80 cu ft stages!:14: There is also the half twist backwards flop which is effective for not getting your foot caught in tree roots after climbing out of the river to relieve yourself so as not to pee in your dry suit halfway through a 2 hour drift dive.:11:
