Hi all,

There is a lack of English information on Japan thus I am posting some Izu dive maps found in The Internet.

In addition to diving services written above website, JUE is actively operating.

For Okinawa, and the Ryaku's I have found many Japanese web sites can be translated to English by using Google Translator with the Google toolbar. Check out my underwater photo's...

This thread really interests me...

I am an American Businessman new to Japan. I have been diving since I 1990. I recently had to go to Oahu for work and was able to go on two excellent boat trips. It is relatively warm water diving... :) I had four great dives.

If you want to go with a good outfit that will make sure you have some enjoyable dives off of the west shore of Oahu (Honolulu - Waikiki) try Scuba Diving with Ocean Concepts. They were really good to me.

I learned to dive however in Monterey Bay.... COLD WATER! Most of my diving has been done off the coast of California.

I am excited to meet people in the Diving community in Tokyo. I have my own gear, and a vehicle... Saturdays are great for me. I don't know anything about diving in the area other than what I have read on the web...

-Mike

I would state Okinawa does have one wreck <USS EMMONS> north of Nago that we normally take groups of divers that are qualified to dive. I prefer everyone in the group has Deep and Nitrox to dive the Emmons. Let me take the time to introduce the Emmoms to you. An American WWII destroyer sunk in April 1945, this is still classed as an official wargrave and is nothing short of spectacular to dive. Descending down the line into the blue and then having the dark outline of the ship slowly coming into view, its main guns pointing skyward, brings a shiver down the spine of most divers who've been there. As you swim along the wreck, you can see where kamikaze planes struck, torpedos hit and shell damage took its toll. If you look down to the bottom you can often see helments, boots and other items from the ship partially covered by the sand. Swimming along from fore to aft, thoughts start to go through your mind of the final few minutes aboard the ship, and the actions of the crew at this time. Soon enough, it's time to slowly ascend up the line and work your way back up to the boat waiting for you. And then it's back onboard and a discussion about everything you've seen and had to take in.

The Emmons is just one of awesome dive sites on northern Okinawa. The island is muc less congested on the northern end....dive sites such as IE Island, Hedo Dome and Point have now opened up to you as well. The boat we use is roughly about a 8-10 pax boat with all the extra gear need....which I would like to fill the boat every time. On almost every dive consider two seats already taken for myself and my divemaster.

I will be scheduling boat dives to these other northern dive sites. After diving there once I cannot see why I have never done this earlier. The dives are done on live reefs and you are almost the only divers in the water. The weekend I first went I did not see another diver other then the 3 in my group....a great contrast from diving Keremas, Meada or even Sunabe.

My winter project includes ploting all Okinawa dive spots on Google Maps. I have ploted all of Okinawa, Yonaguni, and the Keramas. I have yet to plot Iromote, Ishigaki, and the rest of the Ryuku's. Would you like to share your favorite dive site with the world? Plot them on www.hotdive.com Currently I am looking for ship wrecks. Currently I have 10 to included the USS Emmons, Yamato, and the wreck in Devils Cove, Yomitan, Okinawa. Does any one want to give up the coordinates for their favorite ship wreck?

While you are visiting Okinawa, Japan make sure to visit the worlds second largest aquarium. The plexy glass plate is the worlds biggest. The water all comes from the ocean. Here are some of my photos. I just wish I could dive it!
Check it out..
