We're incredibly excited about our upcoming diving adventure in Okinawa! My boyfriend and I are traveling from Detroit to Naha from June 11th to 30th, 2025. We're experienced divers, and he's fluent in Chinese. We'd be so grateful for your insights on a few things:
Would a ferry trip to Ishigaki and back from Naha be practical?
For the best diving experience, should we base ourselves in Naha or the Kerama Islands?
Do you have any dive company recommendations?
And we're curious about the Keramas—are there reliable amenities at night, like power and restaurants?"

To the best of my very limited knowledge, a flight from Naha to Ishikagi is pretty much your only practical option. Good luck!
I would agree with that. I have been to both and am not aware of any ferry service from Naha to Ishigaki.

Naha has civilization, lots of places to stay, lots of restaurants. Can't say the food scene is the best Japan has to offer. Haven't been out to the Kerama islands except on a long day trip. If I go again I would probably look into staying out on Zamami Island.

On Naha I dove with Daisuke with Okinawa 39ers. He speaks fluent English and provides very personalized service.
