I'll be on a cruise out of Puerto Rico on Jan. 3. We'll be stopping in Dominica, Barbados,
St. Maarten, Grenada, and Tobago. I was thinking about just packing my 2 mil shorty but from what I'm reading I might need one of my full wetsuits. Anyone think a full 3 mil will do the job? Thanks.

Hello schu1842 and sparkinator, I'm Eddie Savarin, a Taxi and Tour Operator here in Dominica, I saw that you all were seeking advise on what thickness of wetsuit to bring along on your trip to Dominica. I would strongly suggest that you bring along your 3mm suit because at this time of the year, the temp of the water tend to be in the and at feet. If you all need some additional information, feel free to contact me direct at eddietours2001@yahoo.com

Hey, Let me know what you hear... I'm headed to the same area(Saba) in two days and I'm planning to take my full 3mm.

I would strongly suggest that you bring along your 3mm full suit suit because at this time of the year, the temp of the water tend to be in the 76 degrees Fahrenheit - 78 degrees Fahrenheit and at 100 feet. Eddie,

Thanks for the info.

I'm actually headed to Saba but Dominica is definitely on my list of places to go hopefully sooner rather than later.

Regards,
Sparky

Eddie,
Do you think we should go with a boat dive operator or is there some place we could simply rent tanks and weights and do a shore dive? Do you know what the cost would be? Thanks.

I just got back from Dominica. Others were wearing a combo of long and shorties, but I brought my 2/3 mm long wetsuit and was happy I did so. The DM (also wearing a long suit and long rashguards) got cold at the end of all the dives. I usually get cold easily but I was very comfortable.
