I was seeing what kind of diving opertunities tampa has. I will be traveling Monday December 8 in the morning and looking to do a dive or two in the afternoon. Can anyone recommend a good place to go?

Here is the best boat charter captain:

Most of the gulf diving is a long trip offshore (about an hour). The vis is usually not very pristine either but if you want to shoot fish this is the coast to be on!

There isnt much shore diving, but you can get wet off the beach in Bradenton Bch, at Spanish Rocks and the Sugar Barge About 45mins south, or Venice about 1.25hr south.

There are several freshwater springs around too. Most have some overhead environment and some have caves.

PM me when you get in and I will give you my cell# and figure out what kind of diving you want to do, and how far you want to travel.

I know what that 1 hr boat ride is like and low Vis. We have that here in Jacksonvillle all the time.

How nice is the shore diving? I am game to drive another 1 or so south. Who would be up to diving on that monday?

I did get your PM Monday.
With you driving over on Monday I would recommend an afternoon shore dive in Bradenton. The spot is called "Spanish Rocks". It is a little patch reef a few hundred yards offshore. The depth is about 20' the vis can range from 2'-20'. The curf can be rough.
I will call you later today to discuss.

Bill

Is anybody else interested in meeting up and diving the rocks Monday afternoon??

I tried to call you before the holiday but didnt get any answer.
What dates are you planning on arriving? Is Dec 8th still good?
I will be going to the east coast this weekend diving.

The water temp in Venice last weekend was 64. I would imaging it is about the same in the Tampa area.

I will be in on Dec 8. That water is a little cold. Thanks for the call. I did get the message but things around here got a little crazy. If your free tomorrow feel free to call me. How is the Vis?

The vis last weekend in Venice was about 10-15 which is very good for Venice. The water temp was 64. There is a group with BlueWaterBrad going out this weekend near Sarasota and maybe they will have a better report.
I probably wont be diving on Monday, but we can see what the rest of the week looks like.
What do you want to do? Give me some idea and I can make some recommendations. Gulf - Shore. Salt - Fresh. Deep - Shallow. Cheap - Not so cheap??
