At the risk of being mobbed by people concerned with the health threat i just wanted to put something out there for all us women divers to think about.

I have just found out about a jab you can recieve that will not destory any worry about babies but it also stops periods all together, however before i go ahead and consider this seriously i just want to know if anyone else had any experience with this and what the pros and cons were.

I would be very gratful for any light people can spead on this issue.

Are you referring to DepoProvera?
I was on Depo for 2 years.
It was an amazing carefree feeling, to go get a jab 4 times a year and not have to worry about contraception or periods the whole time. I loved it.
The only reason I stopped was because I had a return of my migranes (which I thought I had stamped out) and we thought maybe the Depo was doing it. Sure enough, I've been off it for 8 years now and don't get migranes anymore.
It took 18 months after stopping depo to get regular periods back.
Don't forget that there is still the possibility of having the reverse - have your period nonstop the whole time the hormone is in your system. Not a pleasant side-effect!

Would I go on it again? No, but simply because of the migranes. If I didn't get them, I'd be on it again in a heartbeat!

Oh, I also gained a little weight with it, maybe 5kg over 2 years, but I probably needed to gain the weight at the time...

Hope this helps,

Ness
